When You're Tired, Try These Hacks

By Genevieve Cunningham

You probably think that feeling tired is normal. Most people learn to live with a nearly constant state of fatigue. Even if the feeling isn't overbearing, it's likely ever-present. You might be surprised to learn that feeling tired doesn't actually have to be normal -- not at all. If you want to change the norm and start experiencing more energy in your daily life, take a look at these hacks that can make a difference starting today.

Improve Your Sleep

Easier said than done, right? But it really doesn't have to be hard! Improving your sleep may be as simple as sticking to a bedtime. When our bodies learn a schedule, it becomes easier to fall asleep. You should also work to make your sleeping environment as comfortable as possible. This might mean a new mattress and pillow, just the right number of blankets, and the perfect sleeping temperature. Make small changes to your routine, improve your sleep slowly over time, and your energy should take a natural turn for the better.

Properly Time Your Movement

Exercise is good; we all know that. But what is slightly lesser known is that the timing of your movement makes a difference. If you work out too close to bedtime, you may find that your energy is too great to fall asleep. And if you can't fall asleep, you're going to be tired. For others, working out in the morning causes low energy for the rest of the day. The key is to find what time works for you and stick to it regularly. Though it might take some time, your energy levels should respond and improve.

Avoid the Screen

Screens are exhausting. We don't realize just how much time we spend behind a screen of some kind. Phones, computers, the TV -- it's non-stop! And by the day's end, our brains are fried. If you want more energy, you may need to put a time limit on screen time. Will it be easy? Probably not. Will it be worth it? When your energy goes up and you feel healthier overall, you'll definitely appreciate your limited screen lifestyle.

Feeling tired can become entirely too normal in our lives. Are we really meant to be exhausted every single day? Definitely not. Use these tips to improve your health and your energy, and start cutting back on fatigue and feeling better in your life every day.
