Burying Breast Cancer with Berries

By Brandi Swieter

Breast Cancer Awareness Month falls to October. This month provides a time for everyone to reflect on the harsh reality of this cancer and the many lives it has impacted and continues to impact. Finding ways to fight it is important, and with the help of berries, people can bury their breast cancer and promote better health and well-being.

Blueberries

Blueberries are one of the world’s superfoods. With high antioxidant powers due to its purple color created by the anthocyanosides within, this fruit works well for fighting certain cancers. Anyone with breast cancer hoping to improve health should start by adding blueberries to their daily diet. It can be added to yogurt, cereal, pancake and waffle mixes, and more.

Raspberries

Raspberries also contain beneficial cancer-fighting properties. The ellagic acid within it has anti-estrogen properties. These properties work to combat cancer, including certain forms of breast cancer. The high amount of Vitamin C is incredibly beneficial in reducing inflammation and boosting immunity.

Blackberries

Vitamin C is also found in abundance in blackberries. With a boost in brain health, added fiber, and supportive ingredients for oral health, this berry is a great one for many facets of health. Preventing breast cancer and other forms of cancer is possible with the addition of this health to the diet.

Strawberries

Strawberries are packed with fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants. The polyphenols can fight cancer and disease and improve the immune system. With no sodium and no cholesterol, this berry is a solid choice for anyone wanting to fight cancer and improve overall health. Eating them plain makes a great snack, or dip them in a melted dark chocolate with a high amount of cocoa for even more antioxidant benefits.

A Fresh Selection

Many people think that the same results are achieved no matter what version of berries they consume. This is not entirely true. Fresh berries straight from the garden are the best to eat because they have not been treated with any harmful chemicals. Choosing some from the produce section at a health food store is also more beneficial than grabbing them from the chain grocery store in town. Fresh is always the better option over frozen or canned choices. With fresh berries added to the diet least several times a week, people have a better chance of fighting their breast cancer and maintaining wellness.

Fighting breast cancer any way possible is often on the goal list for anyone suffering. If using berries can help, then as many as possible should be added to the diet throughout the week to combat symptoms and prevent the cancer from developing. With improved health, cancers and other diseases can be fought.
