Bedroom Upgrades Chiropractors Say Promote Sleep

Sleep can be difficult to come by for many reasons. The summer season can make it even harder to get a good night's rest when you're left feeling hot and uncomfortable. Chiropractors have some recommendations on bedroom upgrades that can help promote better sleep in the summer and throughout the rest of the year.
A New Mattress
Too many people continue using the same mattress for years and years. About eight years is the typical limit for how long a mattress can actually last, though some can make it to 10. Beyond that, it's had too much wear and use to remain as comfortable and solid as needed. If you notice you've lately been getting worse sleep than usual, it may be time for a mattress upgrade. Lumps in certain spots, and a worn down area can also be indicators.
A Chiropractic Pillow
Your pillow could be the culprit for your lack of sleep. Pillows should be replaced even more frequently than mattresses, with a new one needed at least every two years. When you start to notice your pillow feeling lumpy in some places or that it's gotten flat and offers no support, it's time for a new one. There are chiropractic pillows that actually provide a space for your neck and head to rest comfortably. These options prevent your head from turning to one side and help you avoid waking with a kink in your neck.
Blackout Curtains

A Better Fan
Many people sleep with a fan on -- especially on hot summer nights. Fans can make great white noise that help you block out other sounds and help lull you to sleep. If the fan doesn't block sound well enough, or it doesn't keep you cool enough even on the highest setting, it may be time for a better one. A purifying fan may be an ideal choice because it helps to block out pet dander and allergens that could interfere with your respiratory system.
