Paying Close Attention to Our Skin Is Important

Many of us go to great lengths to take care of our bodies.  Our health is something that we should never take for granted.  Too many times, it can come back to haunt us if we do.  When it comes to our skin, some seem to think it is something that should concern women only.  This is obviously not the case.  The skin plays a critical role in good health.  It protects us from infection as well as provides a considerable part of our appearance.  For many years, those who worked outdoors did one of two things, they either learned well and covered up from head to toe, or they burned badly and suffered the effects.  There are many more facets of caring for the skin than this, however.

Sunscreen Should Be a Staple

Unless we spend all of our time indoors, we should all use sunscreen.  Not only can it help us avoid minor burns from light exposure, but it may also help us to avoid dangerous skin cancers.  It is suggested that we use a sunscreen that is mineral-based with SPF of at least 30.  We should really use it daily.  If we have prolonged exposure, we should use it several times per day.  How many times have you been sunburned while simply riding in a car?  I have when the sun was shining in through a window next to me.

Replace Water Often

We all use up more water than we may realize.  It may be through perspiration or being in the wind.  We use it through normal processes throughout the day.  It is necessary to help in digestion and many other functions.  It also helps to keep the skin flexible and full.  When we don't have enough water, we will likely have drier skin with more wrinkles.  Water can help to flush out many of the impurities in our skin as well.

A Facial Massage May Serve Well

Even though many of us probably never think of it, giving ourselves a facial massage can do a lot.  It can improve the circulation in the skin and help us maintain better color.  It can also help to relax the muscles of the face and relieve tension.  It helps to keep the skin healthier and allows the skin cells to be better functioning.  Doing this daily will require very little time and provide good results.
