How to Make Your Morning Workout Easier

By Sara Butler

For a lot of people, getting their daily workout routine out of the way first thing in the morning is their key to success. Do you want to be one of those people? Well, if so, then you need to work to set yourself up for success by taking care of a few things the night before. Here are some solid strategies that can help you to make your morning workout just a little bit easier.

Gather Your Gear

The night before, assemble all the items you need for your workout, whether you're actually leaving the house to do your workout or not. Figure out what to wear and put it together with all your other gear such as headphones, shoes, a water bottle, or a jacket. If you need clothes to change into for work after, then have those ready to go too.

If you need a pre-workout snack or drink of some sort, make sure to throw that in as well. If you're not much of a morning snack person, then prep all the items you'll need for a quick breakfast the night before, so you can make it and go.

Get to Bed on Time

Once you have everything ready to go, you may be tempted to stay up and finish just one more chapter or your latest Scottish Highlander romance novel, but don't do it. Instead, try to go to bed just a little bit earlier so you ensure you're getting between 7 and 9  hours of sleep before you have to get up to do your workout.

It's also a good idea to skip any nighttime snacks.  That doesn't mean you should ignore a grumbling, protesting stomach, but it does mean you should stop drinking or eating within two hours of when you plan to hit the hay. Going to bed with a full stomach can actually make your sleep quality worse!

Jazz Up Your Alarm

That blaring, beeping sound coming from your alarm is no way to start off the morning right! Instead, program your favorite music to wake you up. Choose a tune that helps to energize you and get your morning started right, then continue that energy with a playlist for your workout that can help it to be more enjoyable.

Exercise is very important to your health, so do what you can to make it a priority!
