Avoid Pain During These 4 Fall Activities
By Brandi Goodman
The fall season is a fun time, but it can also be a painful one. Many of the activities you enjoy can quickly lead to pain if you aren't careful. Learn how to avoid aches and strains during these four common fall activities so you can enjoy them even more.
Binge-Watching Fall Shows
You may think nothing of sitting at home watching your fall shows when the old ones return and new ones begin. Sitting on the couch for hours can actually lead to pain though. You need to binge your fall shows carefully and watch your posture so you don't feel sore afterward. Sit straight in the seat and don't let yourself slouch. It's also wise to take your eyes off the television screen from time to time so you can give them a break.
Walking Through a Corn Maze
A corn maze is a common location to visit during the autumn months. Walking through one can prove painful however if you aren't exercising caution. You should wear the proper shoes so your feet are less likely to feel sore. Sore feet can lead to sore legs and even an aching back. Sturdy shoes that are comfortable and well-fitting are best. Never wear sandals or high heels that can make it easier to trip.
Carving a Pumpkin
Pumpkin carving is a favorite fall activity for many. Be careful as you carve though, since it can take a lot of work. Your arms may be feeling sore by the time you're done with your creation. It can also hurt your back to sit hunched over your pumpkin while you attempt to make your design. You need to stretch your body before you start the process to avoid any aches and be sure to sit up straight as well.
Taking a Hike
A hike is yet another common autumn activity. You get to explore nature and see all the beauty of the changing leaves. It isn't as hot to hike in the fall months as it is in summer. You have to watch your step even more so though. Any heavy rains could have caused wet leaves that are easier to slip on. Be sure to wear the proper hiking books and have all your equipment with you in case you get in any trouble. It's also wise to hike with a friend.
Consider these tips when enjoying your favorite fall activities and you'll be even more likely to have a good time instead of a painful one.
