Perhaps this is why so many people try to begin their year in a healthier manner. Of course, this is also difficult sometimes, especially to keep the momentum. If you're interested in starting out your year fresh and healthy, take a look at these tips to help you get started.

Don't Make It a Resolution

It may seem like making better health your resolution would be a good idea, but it often backfires. For some reason, many people lose steam when working towar a specific resolution. If you want to be successful, think of it as a lifestyle change instead of as a temporary goal. You might even start a week after the new year has begun, or perhaps a month into the year. Do it whenever you're ready, and you're much more likely to succeed in the end.

Make Your Goals Small

It's a lot easier to find success if you don't change everything at one time. Your end goal may look like a completely new lifestyle, but that doesn't mean you have to do everything all at once. Start with very small goals, and work toward one at a time. As you master one, add another. This allows you to create small successes to keep you motivated, and is much more likely to stick long-term.

The new year is a great time to quit old bad habits. Because the new year feels refreshing, it often gives us the push and motivation that we need to end something unhealthy. If you're a smoker, use the new year as your time to stop. If you want to quit sodas, fill up on New Year's Eve and then be done with them.
