How Technology Can Be Your Weight Loss Friend
By Genevieve Cunningham
Technology is a strange phenomenon in our current world. On the one hand, we love the ease that it brings to life. We love the information that we can find at a moment’s notice. And honestly, we love the distractions that it brings into our lives in certain moments. But technology can also be damaging. It causes us to stress our eyes, sit more than ever, and often leads to a sedentary lifestyle. And when it comes to weight loss, many think of technology as the straw that broke the camel’s back. Technology keeps us from moving and makes us lazy, right? Sometimes, yes. But as it turns out, technology may also help in the weight loss journey … as long as we use it correctly. If you’re interested in using technology to get in the best shape of your life, take a look at these tips for making it happen.
Health Apps
One quick search in your app store will show a multitude of health apps available for the taking. These apps can do a wide range of tasks including counting calories, calculating macros, keeping track of exercise, and counting steps. The key is to find one that works for you. If you like to run, a running app might help. If you’re more interested in lowering your calorie intake, a calorie counting app will probably be more helpful. Give a few apps a try (many are free!) and you’ll be well on your way to a healthier lifestyle.
Friends and Accountability
Technology gives us quick and constant communication with various people. If you need friends and accountability to keep you motivated, technology can be your best friend. Join an online group, make your own group of friends, or use reminders on your phone to keep you accountable. When it comes to keeping you moving forward through communication with others, technology wins hands down.
Videos and Guides
The internet is a vast resource for all kinds of information. If you’re trying to lose weight, do a quick search for videos or other information to help you get moving. Diet plans, workout plans, tips and tricks, and even motivational speeches are everywhere. All you have to do is look. If you need free, useful, and effective information regarding weight loss, the internet is the perfect place to get started.
A love of technology doesn’t have to mean that you’re living a sedentary life. Use your resources wisely. Use technology wisely. If you use technology the right way, you may be able to keep your love of all things technical while losing weight and improving your health all at the same time.
