Doctors from The Joint Go Live on the Ron Stutts Show

Doctors Todd Wegerski and Steve Maniscalco of The Joint Chiropractic were recent live guests on the Ron Stutts Show on radio station WCHL. The two chiropractors highlighted common complaints of back pain that occur from the use of modern technology.

The top three reasons for seeking out chiropractic care are because of low back pain, neck pain and headaches. Dr. Wegerski explained that as adults and adolescents have become increasingly attached to their phones. back pain has also become an increasingly common complaint that is referred to as "tech neck." Americans spend approximately 9-10 hours daily in front of some type of screen, such as a phone or laptop, which is having a cultural health impact.

"We have adopted a forward flex head posture that puts a lot of stress on the discs, ligaments, tendons and muscles in the neck, and over time that causes people to have pain." Dr. Wegerski said.

The doctors explained how chiropractic, such as that practiced at The Joint, can benefit local residents  

"Chiropractic care is a very simple concept." Dr. Maniscalco explained. "The body is meant to move. Chiropractors look for misalignments throughout the body, mostly in the spine since the spine is the center of the body."

And the spine, which encases a central nervous system that controls every reaction of every cell within the body, is where chiropractors are able to do some of their best work; creating a healthy, high-functioning spine and nervous system creates a healthier body. 

"The bread and butter of chiropractors is spinal manipulation," Dr. Wegerski said. "Spinal manipulation is now the recommended treatment for low back pain."
