The Joint Sponsoring Run For Resilience Ostomy 5K
The Joint Chiropractic Southpoint is a proud sponsor of the 2017 Run For Resilience Ostomy 5K, which will be held near the Southpoint Mall area of Durham and take participants through the scenic American Tobacco Trail.
"The Joint Chiropractic Southpoint is proud and pleased to support local foundations and charities," said the clinic's chiropractor, Dr. Adrian Laros.
All proceeds from the Oct. 7 event will benefit the United Ostomy Associations of America, Inc. The 5K raises awareness about ostomy and continent diversion surgery in the U.S. and abroad. The race also encourages those who have had ostomy or continent diversion surgery to get involved in events and organizations that make a difference in their lives.
Such activitity is important for all members of the community, Dr. Laros says, and chiropractic fits in with a healthy lifestyle, both before a 5K to ensure optional functionality, and after to help alleviate pain. But chiropractic, which benefits children as well as adults, has benefits far beyond back pain.
To learn more about chiropractic, The Joint-Southpoint is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The 5K is on a certified course and is officially timed. In addition to the 5K and the race award ceremony, the Run will have a DJ, activities for kids and even has a stroller division for parents of young children. The activities for kids include a 50-meter dash, face painting, cornhole, and coloring.
There are prizes for the top three overall female/male winners, age group winners, top three female/male stroller runners, and top three ostomate runners.
The race takes place on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 8 a.m. To learn more or to register, click here.
