How to Dig Deeper and Make Life Right

By Sandy Schroeder

As we clear our heads and dip into a new year, we may want to make a few changes, or a lot. Wherever you are right now, DumbLittleMan suggests examining the key parts of life to make sure they are good.

We all have basic components, like health, fitness, family, finances and work that need to be maintained to thrive. Here are some good areas to check and fix, if needed.

Job, Bank Account and Future

We all need the security of a stable job that keeps us involved and pays the bills. At the same time, we need to save enough to avoid staying up nights thinking about the bills. Finally, we all need to dream a little. Where do we want to be in the future? Traveling, writing that novel, living above the water with a view and keeping bees? Do the homework on your job, bank account and future to make them work for you.

Your Family and Your Home

Look around at your family and your home. Where would you be without them? Where would they be without you? Accepting the ups and downs, and big and little issues as they come and go is really what it is all about. At the end of the day, if you can all sit and talk and laugh together, you have a lot to be thankful for. Do your best every day to be your best, and they will follow suit.

Fitness and Health

Check your BMI, body mass index, to see where you stand. Or maybe you already know. Either way, if it needs fixing get moving and create diet rules that fit you. If late night snacks, sweets, or juicy burgers and salty fries are doing you in, do something about it. Make farmers market your new hangout and check Epicurious.com for some satisfying recipes.

Friends, Neighbors and Colleagues

It is easy to take others for granted, but if you look closely that group of people that circles around us helps complete our existence. Without them, life would be a colder, much more sterile place. Choose these people with care and treat them as valuable parts of your life. It is easy to have tons of contacts that come and go, but investing in a few strong relationships with remarkable people can be a life long pleasure.

These are just a few of the main parts of life. Daily habits and routines, life purpose, spiritual and mental development and ongoing education are all worth looking at too. Enjoy the process and make it fit you.
