3 Ways to Get More Water Into Your Day

By Genevieve Cunningham

Water is one of the most important parts of a healthy diet. And yet for many people, it’s also one of the most difficult parts. Even though it can help clear skin, move digestion, and hydrate the body, it doesn’t have any flavor. And for many people, a lack of flavor is a deal breaker! Unfortunately, even if you feel this way, water absolutely must be a part of your diet. So how can you get more when you’re just not feeling it? If you’re willing to put out just a little bit of effort, it can be easier than you think. To improve your water intake and your health, take a look at these tips for getting more H2O every day.

Get It Through Food

There are plenty of foods that are full of water. If you add these foods to your diet, you can get more water without having to really think about it. So what foods have high water content? Cucumbers and celery are two green foods that can improve your water intake. And if you need something with more flavor, reach for melons such as watermelon and honeydew. You can also reach for strawberry, cauliflower, spinach, radishes, and tomatoes. There are plenty of options, so it might be a breeze to find something that you like to add to your normal menu.

Set Rules … And Follow Them

Getting more water might take a bit of self-discipline. Try to set yourself a set of rules regarding water, and then stick to them. What kind of rules? Maybe you don’t eat any meals until you have a glass of water first. Maybe you get a sip of water at every break at work. Maybe you drink water before, in the middle, and at the end of every workout. There are multiple rules that you can set for yourself. Just do what works for you, and the rest will work itself out.

Keep a Water Bottle Everywhere

Don’t allow for any excuses when it comes to drinking water. What does this mean? It means that water should be available at all times. Keep a water bottle in your purse or car. Keep a water bottle at the office. Keep one next to your bed. Keep one in your gym bag. The fewer excuses you give yourself, the more likely you are to make drinking more water a priority.

You really need more water in your life. Sure, soda and juice and tea all taste better, but water is going to keep you healthy and thriving! Use these tips to get more water into your everyday life, and you’ll likely notice a significant difference in the way that you feel and your overall health for years to come.
