Online Schooling Solutions That Prevent Pain
By Brandi Goodman
Getting to complete online schooling at home can be great in many ways. You can work at your own pace, log on when you're ready, and don't need to stick to such a strict schedule that normal school settings utilize. You do, however, have the possibility of feeling achy and sore if you aren't careful with how and where you're working. Consider some online schooling solutions that will prevent pain and keep you on track.
Choose a Standing Desk
Sitting down for hours completing your school work can leave your hips and back quite sore. Choose a standing desk instead so you can maintain your posture and avoid the pitfalls sitting brings. They're shown to increase productivity, limit your chance of gaining weight, and even reduce your potential of developing heart disease. Be aware, however, that standing for long hours can also prove detrimental. You need to take breaks and walk around a bit to avoid varicose veins and sore legs.
Get an Ergonomic Chair
If you do want to sit, an adjustable desk is a good option. You can raise it to a higher level when you're ready to stand and lower it to where sitting would be comfortable. Just be sure you get an ergonomic chair that also adjusts. This type of chair will keep your back supported and prevent pain. It also encourages you to sit upright and not slouch.
Stick to a Sleep Schedule
Just because you may not have to get up and out the door at a certain time doesn't mean you shouldn't go to bed at a normal hour. You should still be sticking to a sleep schedule and trying to set a good pace for your school day. This helps to prevent stress and therefore tension that leads to pain. Getting adequate amounts of sleep is necessary for overall well-being.
Stay Hydrated
Don't get into the habit of drinking coffee, energy drinks, and soda pop. All of these caffeinated and sugary beverages are so bad for your body. They can actually make you dehydrated. You need proper hydration from water to keep all your joints limber. Make sure you're getting plenty to drink and keeping a water bottle by your side so you can work well, think clearly, and avoid pain.
Online schooling from home is a terrific option. You just need to be sure you have the right equipment available and keep your body in mind at all times. Pain can set in quickly when you're sitting hunched over a laptop on your bed rather than utilize a proper desk.
