Has Your Back Gone to the Dogs?

By Tom Herrin

Are you a dog owner?  If you are, you are by no means alone.  Dogs can steal the hearts of lots of people, and they can be pretty hard to resist.  After a long day at work for you, they generally need some attention. Those walks may be the best thing for both of you.  On the good side, it can be a great feeling to get out in the open and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells.  On the bad side, those walks can end up as pulls and tugs.  Some of the larger breeds can drag a companion around like a rag doll.  As you pull back in an effort to reel them in, you may end up with some back pain.  If spending time with your dog ends up causing you back pain, a visit to a chiropractor may make those sounds and smells much sweeter.

Back Pain and Dog Walks

When you walk a dog that is considerably larger, you may be pulled pretty hard.  This can strain the muscles that support the spine.  It may weaken their ability to do their job and may result in a joint dysfunction.  In this, pressure is placed on a nerve causing pain.  This may be a small pain or one that is intense and unforgiving.  Pain medication may only cover the problem temporarily.  You may be destined to spend lots of sleepless nights.

Chiropractors Treat Backs

When you go to a chiropractor with back pain, you will likely be given an adjustment in which the spine is gently manipulated so that the injured joint is restored to its optimal position.  This can take the pressure off of the nerve and relieve the pain.  Since it is all natural, no pain medication is used.  There is no risk of addiction or side effects.  You may expect to feel much better much faster.  It may be a great start to a healthy new lifestyle.
