Surviving Your Extended Cabin Fever
By Donna Stark
Feeling cooped up lately? Well, you are not alone! There are a bunch of us feeling that way too and unfortunately, it is causing a lot of stressed-out days! From bickering kids to hours of boredom to complete and utter isolation, getting through what may feel like an extended version of the worst cabin fever you have ever experienced can be tough! But don't worry! Your local chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic are feeling the same way and they have a few ideas on how to survive your unexpected staycation at home. Take a look.
Look After Yourself
You've got all the time in the world, so why not put it to good use and show yourself some love? Cook more, read more, exercise more, pamper yourself some more ... do all of those things that you wish you could do if you weren't so busy doing things for everyone else. It will make a huge difference in how you feel.
There are still plenty of ways to stay connected to your friends and family without leaving your home and one of the best ways is through video calling. Imagine seeing and talking to your loved one while watching your favorite television show, cooking the same recipe, or discussing a favorite book together. Pretty special, isn't it?
Engage Your Mind
Learning something new is a great way to pass the time because once you really get into it, that time will fly right by! So, grab your laptop and search for some online courses (some may even be free!) or pull out those paint supplies you tucked away and learn the difference between scumbling and crosshatching. Who knows? It may put you on an entirely new path in life!
Spread Your Love
Extending kindness to others has been shown to reduce the levels of stress a person may feel in their own life, so start spreading some love! Ask a neighbor if their yard needs mowed, offer to walk your friend's dog while she feeds her children lunch, or just pass along a smile or two. A kind word goes a long way these days.
Stress-Free Cabin-Fever Days
These are just a few tips on how to deal with some of the stress from being stuck at home but you can come up with a few ideas of your own too! Just remember, you aren't in this alone. Friends and family are just a phone call away so don't hesitate to reach out! Who knows? They may be needing to hear your voice too.
