Are You Focused on Better Health?
By Genevieve Cunningham
Better health is a great goal to have. Considering our health affects absolutely everything else in our lives, it only makes sense to make it a priority. But for many people, putting health at the forefront is a challenge. Even when we think we’re putting it first, we’re really not. So how do you ensure that better health is at the top of your list? You have to ask yourself some serious questions. To give yourself a quick self-check, take a look at these questions, and answer them as honestly as you possibly can.
What Does Your Diet Look Like?
This is a tough question for a lot of people. Their first response is often, “It's not great, but it's not terrible.” But when these same people write out the food that they eat in a day, they notice that their diet is a little worse than they thought. It has far more calories and far fewer vegetables. It's riddled with junk food and hidden fats and calories. If you want better health, attack your diet first, and the rest will follow.
Do You Exercise?
If the answer is no, then you have work to do. Exercise is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. If you said yes, then you need to determine whether that exercise is performed on a regular basis. It's not only exercise, but continual exercise that makes a difference. Make sure that regular exercise is a part of your life and you’ll definitely be moving toward better health.
Are You Proactive About Mental Health?
Don't forget that physical health is not the only factor in your long-term well-being. Mental health is just as, if not more, important. But are you treating your mental health like it's important? Are you staying active and involved? Are you taking days off? Are you reaching out for help when you're overwhelmed? Make a plan for protecting your mental health, and you may find that you begin to feel better about your life as a whole.
Better health is definitely possible. But you have to make sure that better health is truly your goal. You have to make sure your mind is on the right track and that your priorities are straight. Ask yourself these questions, answer yourself honestly, and make a plan to get your life moving in a healthy direction now.
