Your Body Is Not a Bonsai Tree
By Donna Stark
The ancient art of growing Bonsai trees is a fascinating subject. Did you know that Bonsai trees can be grown from regular seeds? And that any number of different trees can be tended to and shaped to grow in the particular way that they are famous for? We are talking about trees and shrubs that have been consistently stressed in one way or another over a very long period of time. Years of careful cultivation and pruning, all for the purpose of creating a posture that would never be found on its own. It's a beautiful thing to see, but it's only beautiful when it pertains to trees. And what do I mean by that? Well, something similar can also happen to our bodies, but unlike those gorgeous trees you come across in Japanese gardens, there is nothing pretty about unnatural posture in the body.
Your Body Is Not a Bonsai Tree
When you limit the space in which something has to grow, that thing has to learn how to adjust, and for the most part, many things will. We see it in our potted plants, we see it in the Bonsai tree, and unfortunately, we see it in our bodies too. Have you ever thought about the amount of abnormal stress you place on your body or the damage it will cause after years of doing so? You may want to start doing so today.
Give Your Body the Space It Needs
Imagine being forced to sit in a cardboard box with your computer while at work. You're bent over, you're shoulders are hunched forward, and you are squished as squished can be. You've been holding an unnatural position for hours and have been prohibited from crawling out to take a break. Sounds pretty horrible. In fact, it kind of sounds like a form of punishment, don't you think? But if you can magically remove that box, without changing anything else, you may notice something utterly shocking ... it's the same position you sit in every day in real life.
Are You Cultivating Poor Posture?
It's no wonder your body hurts all the time. Good posture ranks high on the list for optimal health and wellness, and as of right now, you don't have it. So you need to make some changes, don't you? Because when your body is properly aligned, you feel healthier, you have more energy, and you hurt less. On top of that, your emotional health is positively impacted as well!
Make Those Changes
Fortunately, poor posture can be corrected! So get out of that box and stop treating your body like a Bonsai tree! Eliminate as much of the "bad" stress from your body as possible and start focusing on good posture. It will definitely make a difference in how you feel now and in the future.
