Make a Difference to Your Health

By Donna Kostiew

I don’t know how it is in your hometown, but where I am living at the moment there is literally a Starbucks every square mile. And it’s kind of hard for me to drive past several of them on the way to work or my children’s school without having the urge to stop and get one of those calorie-laden drinks, especially when the drive-thru is empty.

But that’s what I have to do, fight the urge, because I know it isn’t adding any healthy aspects to my life.

So How About You?

Is there anything in your life that you could be doing, or that you could stop doing, that would make a difference to your overall health? Are you suffering from pain, living a sedentary life, not eating nutritiously? It’s probably not too hard to come up with some potential areas for improvement in your life, but let’s talk about those three.

Pain

There are so many sources of pain in our bodies, yet most people never truly find the underlying cause of the problem. They just treat it. They mask it with medications that will bring relief, but only temporarily at best. There are alternative options for the treatment of pain and finding them doesn't have to be difficult. In fact, with nearly 400 locations nationwide, The Joint Chiropractic is a perfect option. Chiropractic care is a worthwhile pursuit because it is safe, effective, and a completely natural way to address pain. Chiropractic care is also a better choice than pain medications because it actually addresses the underlying cause of your problem and offers so many other health benefits at the same time.

Exercise

This isn’t new … we’ve been told our entire lives that we need to exercise. So how active are you? Are you at least engaging in some form of exercise during your week, or are you going from a desk job during the day to your couch every night? The human body was made to move, so add in some exercise during the week if you aren’t already doing so, take that extra flight of stairs every morning, or park a little farther from the office entrance. You will definitely make strides in improving your health!

Nutrition

A healthy diet doesn't need to be super complicated in order to get results that you want. Eat a variety of foods that include fruits, veggies, and lean proteins. Stay away, or limit, the sugary sodas and drinks (like me for example, skipping the Starbucks drive-thru). Drink water. And if you’re still thirsty, drink some more water.

When you look at your health habits in a way that promotes change for the better, amazing things can happen. Give it some thought. What could you do differently that will bring some improvements to your health?
