The Argument for Skipping Breakfast

By Genevieve Cunningham

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You have absolutely heard this before. This is a health staple that people have been touting for years. But what if it's not exactly gospel? As it turns out, there is some controversy regarding whether or not breakfast is necessary. If you're not keen on eating first thing in the morning, take a look at this solid argument for skipping breakfast and still remaining healthy.

It’s Not the Breakfast, But the Habit

Recent research has indicated that it's not necessarily the actual breakfast that makes you a healthier person, but rather the habit. Those who eat breakfast on a regular basis tend to have healthier habits than those who don't. Perhaps it's because these people wake up earlier, or maybe it's because these people are better at planning. Whatever the case may be, if you would like to be among those who are thought to be healthier, then eating breakfast may still be a good idea.

Intermittent Fasting is Hot

So what if you really just don't enjoy breakfast? The good news is that intermittent fasting is actually a really hot idea right now. The concept is that you fast for a certain number of hours per day, usually 16, and eat in an  eight-hour window. For most people the window for eating usually starts at noon. For those who really hate breakfast, this can work. Those who engage in intermittent fasting report healthier bodies, weight loss, and multiple other health benefits in their life. Before you give this method a try, it's a good idea to talk to your doctor to make sure that it's a safe way for you to live your life.

Should You Eat It or Not?

So should you eat breakfast or should you skip it? The truth is that it's up to you. While eating breakfast may signal a healthier lifestyle, it's not necessarily crucial. The best advice is to speak with your healthcare professional to figure out what's going to work best for you. Some people may be fine with skipping breakfast, while others need it to keep their blood sugar level. Do some research, get some solid advice, and do what works best for your health. Breakfast or not, it's completely possible to improve your health and live your best life yet.
