3 Methods for Toxin Elimination

By Brandi Goodman

National Poison Prevention Week in March makes people aware of the dangers all around. Doing things to prevent yourself from ingesting or inhaling toxic substances is important, but knowing methods to eliminate these toxins from your body is also crucial. It is nearly impossible to completely prevent toxic chemicals from entering our systems with nearly everything in life containing something potentially harmful. With these five methods for toxin elimination, you can cleanse your body and keep it healthy and well.

Flush Your System With Water

Drinking enough water does much more than keep your body hydrated. It also allows all bodily systems to function correctly and do their important jobs. One of those jobs is eliminating toxins. Water helps to flush out the system and get rid of unhealthy substances that are causing harm from the inside. Eight glasses of 8 ounces of water per day is the minimum you need.

You need to do more than just drink water, though. The right kind of water is important. Most tap water and even bottled water in plastic can contain toxic substances. It's best to purchase a purifying filter or add a filtration system to your tap so that your water is safe to drink. Filters remove the dangerous matter and leave only clean water behind for you to drink.

Take a Detox Bath

A detox bath is designed with toxin elimination in mind. Certain toxins can cause sickness, pain, and fatigue. A detox bath using epsom salt fights symptoms of each of these and more. It works to draw out the harmful substances and leave the body feeling refreshed and well. The alkalizing effect can boost the immune system and improve the functioning of the bodily systems.

Many different versions of a detox bath exists. Some people only use the epsom salt while others add baking soda to the mix. Some even combine essential oils that are supposed to help with particular problems, such as lavender for relaxation. Either way, it is often recommended to use one or two cups of epsom salt per bath, in water as hot as you can stand. You should then soak for at least 20 minutes, but no more than 40, to sweat out the toxins and experience improved well-being.

Exercise Daily

Just as a hot bath containing epsom salt can help you sweat out toxic materials, so can exercise. Exercising daily will help to rid your body of unnecessary poisons and viruses as well as keep it feeling healthy. Your cells also take in lots of oxygen during exercise. At this point, toxins must be released to make room.
