Make Your Health a Priority in 2019

By Virginia Laird

Each new year, millions establish a list of resolutions to achieve. According to research, more than half of those goals are health related. Health and wellness experts have offered a list of tips to help you achieve your health-related goals this year, including:

  • Swing by the gym on your way home from work
  • Make healthy eating a habit
  • Drink plenty of water

Swing By the Gym on Your Way Home From Work

Rather than making the same old excuse about not having the time to exercise, consider stopping by the gym on your way home from work. This can allow you a little time to unwind and clear your head after a grueling day in the office. It is suggested that as little as 20 minutes of exercise three to four times each week can be enough to get your health moving in the right direction. Check your route home for a gym which may be convenient for you and start keeping your workout bag in the backseat or trunk. You just may find that you enjoy dropping by before you get home.

Make Healthy Eating a Habit

When trying to commit to a healthier way of life, healthy eating must accompany the plan. And though you may consider it too difficult to eat healthy at work, making sure you are not loading up on junk while at the office is essential. While choosing to eat healthy at home can be the easier part of the plan, at work it can be a challenge; there are a few things you can do to make selecting a healthy diet part of your routine. For starters, taking your lunch to work can allow you to choose healthy eating. Give up the excuses and start making healthy eating your priority.

Drink Plenty of Water

Water is a necessary component of your health. Experts suggest that those who struggle with staying hydrated can hamper their health. Drinking plenty of water promotes the flushing of toxins from the body, helps to regulate body temperature, and promotes healthy function of many of the body's systems. It is suggested that you should consume at least half of your body weight in ounces each day.

Good luck on your goal to a healthier lifestyle in 2019!
