Flu Season Is Not Over Yet
By Virginia Laird
Although there are many who have already begun to count themselves as the lucky few who did not experience the flu this season, it is best to know that flu season is not over just yet. Instead, research indicates that it is currently considered to be widespread in every state across the nation. With the warmer weather coming, it will soon come to an end. However, there is no time to let your guard down against this virus just yet. A few things you can do to help prevent the flu from taking over your home include:
- Wash your hands often
- Wipe down the surfaces of your home
- Eat well-balanced meals
Wash Your Hands Often
Washing your hands plays an important role in keeping the flu out of your home. Health and wellness experts suggest that washing only after using the restroom is not enough to keep yourself healthy. There is research to suggest that, along with washing after using the restroom, you should wash after coming into contact with others, visiting public places, and before and after handling food. Keeping your hands clean can seem like a never-ending battle. However, because doing so can keep the flu away from your family, it is worth every minute spent standing at the sink drenching your hands in warm water and soap.
Wipe Down The Surfaces of Your Home
Health and wellness experts admit that keeping the surfaces of your home clean can help keep germs away. As you and your family come home from various places, everything is generally collected on your surfaces (i.e. counters). This is where germs deposit themselves waiting for the next victim to come along. For this reason, experts suggest that you should wipe the surfaces of your home after each use. Following this advice can be helpful in preventing the flu from taking over your home.
Eat Well-Balanced Meals
While there are many who may not realize the importance of eating a well-balanced diet, it does play a key factor in keeping the body healthy. The truth is, you and your family will encounter the flu germs at some point this flu season. The true question will be: How does your body cope with it? While there may be many who fall ill with the virus, choosing to eat healthy can keep your immune system functioning properly, which can be enough to help your body fight off the illness rather than becoming its next victim.
There is never a bad time to begin taking the necessary precautions that can keep you well and away from the flu.
