Take Fun Activities Seriously for Good Health

By Tom Herrin

In order to stay healthy, you need to find a good exercise program and stay with it everyday, right?  At least that is what some believe, and if that works for them, great.  Some people like to do something they can count on and know what each day is going to be like.  For others, variety is truly the spice of life.  They enjoy new challenges and the idea that they may do some things that are more creative and interesting.  Going all out to beat their own previous standards, or playing a game they have never before played, can keep their minds engaged and their bodies healthier.

Have You Tried Rock Climbing?

It is possible that when you hear the mention of rock climbing you think of someone scaling Mount Everest.  That is a little more than simple rock climbing.  There are lots of opportunities to do rock climbing close to home for most of us.  Many parks offer some kind of small areas to participate in this activity.  They often have classes and equipment rental.  It is one of those things you need to prepare for, but it is not impossible and can be fun.  It can also be a good workout as you will use a lot of the muscles in your body to manage yourself as you climb.  I have done a little of it, and it is really fun.

Riding a Bicycle Can Be Low-Impact

If you are concerned about injuries you may receive from heavier exercise, riding a bicycle may be for you.  Anyone can do it, and you can move along at your own pace.  You may be able to enjoy the outdoors as you feel the breeze blowing through your hair and on your face.  It can be as casual or competitive as you want.  Bicycles are relatively inexpensive, but you can go all out and spend big dollars if you want.  I love riding my bike and do so whenever I have the opportunity.  It can be really great for those of us who are trying to recover from injuries.

Jump on a Trampoline

You may have tried jumping on a trampoline as a child, and it can be fun.  You will be able to get more exercise than you realize.  Personal trampolines are affordable and portable.  They are easy to use and store.  They can be a good option for those who are just not into standard exercise but want to find something to get them going.
