Dr. Bob Natusch has seen just about everything in his more than four decades of chiropractic service. He became part of The Joint Chiropractic’s team of local healthcare providers in 2020 when he began serving residents in the Greenwood area, where he continues doing the work that he finds so gratifying.

“I love being able to help as many people as possible regain and maintain their health without having to resort to drugs or surgery, and being able to provide an experience that’s affordable to all,” he says.

“People need to know that the cause of disease is primarily the result of misaligned or subluxated spinal vertebrae, which interferes with the communication between the brain and all body muscles, tissues, and organs; the cause of disease is not the lack of drugs, potions, chemicals, or unnecessary surgery.”

A self-described “family-oriented chiropractor,” Dr. Bob, as his patients call him, is a product of Westwood in Northern Central New Jersey, and worked previously in West Milford, Oak Ridge, Newfoundland, and Branchville.

Dr. Bob’s other interests include sailing, biking, fishing, metal fabrication, inventing things, stained glass, gardening, and spending time at the beach. His family also has a deep love of animals, including dogs, rabbits, ducks, parrots, and anything they can catch.

Dr. Bob attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, where he received his doctorate in 1976.

“It’s a common misconception that you only need a chiropractor when you have back or neck pain,” Dr. Bob says. “Chiropractic deals with the spinal cord and vertebrae and maintaining the vital flow of nerve impulses that impact the function of every cell in the body. When your body is healthy, chiropractic should be used as a preventive measure; when the spine is in alignment, and the spinal cord is performing optimally, our organs function better and the body fights against sickness and disease -- including bacteria and viruses -- better and faster.”

Dr. Bob was in the U.S. Army and, while stationed in Austria, went down a slalom ski slope in a waxed cardboard box taken from the mess hall, leaving the Austrian skiers mesmerized as he reached the bottom of the hill.

If he could bring together any four people from history for his ideal dinner party, Dr. Bob would include some big hitters in their field. “I would be humbled to break bread with Jesus,” he says. “Thomas Edison never gave up searching for answers, and Benjamin Franklin was a creative mind. BJ Palmer developed chiropractic and fought the medical opposition and brought ‘the big idea’ that there was a natural God-given inane intelligence in the body that -- without interference in the nervous system -- allows it to heal itself.”

Dr. Bob says he always keeps yogurt, fresh vegetables, and fruit stocked in his kitchen so that he can make smoothies: “And of course, chocolate milk for fun!”

After being told surgery was the only option for a labral tear, his parents took him to a sports chiropractor instead. Through focused rehabilitation on his shoulder, Dr. Austin was able to recover without surgery, and the experience completely changed how he viewed the body’s ability to heal. It also sparked his fascination with anatomy, physiology, and human performance, setting him on the path to becoming a chiropractor himself.

Dr. Austin earned his Bachelor’s degree in Health Science from Furman University, graduating cum laude in 2018. He went on to earn his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the National University of Health Sciences, Florida campus, also cum laude, in 2021.

Before moving to South Carolina in 2023 to be closer to family, Dr. Austin practiced at several The Joint Chiropractic locations in the Tampa Bay area.     Tiffany the receptionist was amazing with making my nervous child feel comfortable about their visit. My child is an athlete so an adjustment was overdue. Dr. Bob was so knowledgeable and addressed the needs of my child. This place is super affordable with convenient hours of operation. My child is looking forward to their next appointment. My child stated that their pain is gone after one visit. However, we signed up for the plan because it's like getting an oil change, you need several oil changes to maintain optimal health of your car. We are so glad we found this place next to our favorite supermarket Publix.

    I have been going to them past 2 years and have been satisfied ever since. I’ve had cervical issues which were causing headaches, ringing in my years, shoulder tension and dizziness and has improved significantly. I started off twice a week and slowly tapered off to at least once and currently every 2 weeks. They also offer flexible payment schemes suited especially for your specific needs.     I spoke with Tiffany over the phone concerning my subscribed appointment package and if it was appropriate for me. She was very patient listening to my thoughts and experience so far trying to get out of pain! I expressed my anxiety about bringing my 16 m old daughter in with me because I didn’t know if it was allowed or what… usually when I can make it in I have my parents keep her for a little while. I haven’t been making it in nearly enough as much as I’ve wanted to. Anyway she was super sweet and helpful. She assured me it should be no problem to bring my little one along with me. That was really comforting and I just really appreciate her taking the time to listen to me and help me feel like I’m on the right path to healing. And maintaining that once I’ve healed!     Dr. Bob is very knowledgeable and the front staff are all very kind. I’ve never been to a chiropractor before. I’ve worked manual labor since the age of 12 and have just turned 40. My fiancé surprised me with the paperwork. My lower back is always in a state of pain and most of my muscles ache regularly. First visit, they aligned my bones to their proper spots and a state of euphoria came over me. I was 2” short on my right leg (i had no idea) they popped my hips and now I’m even.     45.00 a visit and the old Dr is not even strong enough to pop your back. Iv been 4 times in a row and he pops the neck and pops back maybe once and says your done. Iv never had a chiropractor do so little and not even ask what's wrong. Told him what I was dealing with and he said just stay off a heating pad. I'm done waisting my money

    I highly recommend The Joint! I started coming here since I was 7 months pregnant due to lower back pain. They put me on a 1 day a week plan and I have not had any pain since. Im 41 weeks pregnant and still no pain!

    My husband and I went this morning. This was our first experience with chiropractic sessons. Ive always been afraid of it hurting and so was my husband. We are so glad we took the plunge! Painless! I instantly felt lighter and a few area that have been feeling tight loosened. It definitely opened my eyes to our poor posture. They have plans to keep you on track! 29 for our first visit and we did sign up for a plan so thats 79 as well. I am scheduled to see Dr. Bob 2x a week so they threw in 2 additional FREE visits... awesome. Clean and professional. Dr. Bob was knowledgeable, approachable, and friendly. Not once was i uncomfortable or scared. He respected the fact that i was nervous and was on top of making the experience enjoyable.

    Update: An appropriate resolution was reached more than 3 weeks after initial contact. The issue was initially resolved based on misrepresentation of the original concern but was eventually corrected by the owner himself. The situation was addressed with the specific doctor who was responsible for the misconduct, who will hopefully refrain his need to impose personal issues on patients in order for them to receive services from him. It was also stated per The Joint Corporate that a long term goal will be in place for additional providers to be hired to better support the structure of The Joint's facilities. Based on services I received from other locations, the expectations in regards to answering patients’ questions and respecting their personal decisions were not met. During my visit, I was told to remove a personal item that I preferred to keep on. No medical explanations were given, unlike other locations (e.g., glasses/jewelry due to possibility of breaking or getting caught on the table). For clarification, these were not glasses or jewelry or any other reasonable item that was ever requested to be removed during previous visits at other locations. After inquiring more than once with the provider about the purpose of removing the item in relation to the service and specifically asking which technique would make the item a problem, it was made clear once the services began that he just had personal issues with them, nothing medically or professionally related. As someone who holds a professional occupation myself, it is my hope that others understand the importance of being able to distinguish between best practices and personal beliefs/opinions and when to appropriately apply them. Because of this unwarranted confrontation and the overall uneasiness that it caused, the services unfortunately did not meet the same standards as other locations. Being that this visit required 90 minutes of travel time and was used from a Wellness Plan in which I have already invested, additional contact will be made for a more suitable resolution.

    Dr. Bob was very thorough & knowledgeable in the consultation. He brought things to my attention I was not aware were wrong to do (popping my back/cracking my neck). He also showed me simple techniques to correct my spine, and offered great advice on proper posture and corrective exercises.
