Plan a Day of Fitness Fun With the Family

With National Family Health and Fitness Day celebrated in September, and other national fitness days celebrated throughout the year, it’s important for families to remember to plan days of fitness fun. Families nationwide can take the time to enjoy one another’s company as they try out some exercises and activities that get their blood flowing and muscles moving. There are plenty of options available both indoors and out, ensuring the day can go on even with inclement weather.

Find a Fitness Event

Many locations hold fitness events throughout the year, especially on celebrated “holidays.” Look up some local options and plan a fun-filled day for the family by attending and participating. The YMCA or a nearby health club are the first places you should check. Schools, churches, and other community locations may also have offerings.

Rent a Bounce House

Those who choose not to attend events, or are otherwise unable to do so, can hold their own event right at their home. Bounce houses are available at many of these events for kids to jump in and enjoy. Families can rent a bounce house to have in their own yard, and the whole family can take turns jumping inside. It’s a fun way to burn calories and exercise without even realizing it.

Head to the Pool

Indoor pools are available year-round at fitness centers and even hotels. The family can go to one of these places and pay a small fee to use the pool. Swimming offers great exercise that works out every muscle within the body, yet it has little impact on the joints. It’s ideal for all members of the family.

Go to a Family Fun Center

Family fun centers, such as Fun Warehouse and Rockin’ Jump Myrtle Beach Trampoline Park, are perfect for family workouts. As long as everyone participates, each member of the family can work up a sweat while having fun. These centers offer variations of laser tag, trampolines to bounce on, rock climbing walls, arcade areas, and soft play. Everyone can spend time bouncing, jumping, climbing, and running in the designated locations.

Family fitness time should be planned far more often than just on special occasions such as National Family Health and Fitness Day. Any time possible throughout the year, families should get together and try out some fitness options either indoors or outdoors to get moving and burn energy. It’s wonderful for bonding as well as getting healthy.
