Habits That Are Ruining Your Chance at Daily Success
By Genevieve Cunningham
Most of us are interested in living a productive life. We want to get things done. We want to make progress in every area of life. But if we're all being honest with ourselves, we probably slack off more than we should. We just can't focus. And as a result, our productivity takes a serious dip. But what if the harsh truth is that it's our own habits holding us back? Would you make changes? If you're interested and ready to make positive changes in your life, take a look at these habits that are ruining your productivity that need to be changed today.
Internet Browsing
Admit it, you do this a lot. We all do. When we can't focus, we break out trusty old Google. We may even do it to find legitimate information, but it quickly turns into a spiral of information. What was supposed to be five minutes of distraction turns into an hour or more. If this is you, all you can do is keep your browser closed. It will take self-discipline and practice, but if you can kick this habit, you may see your productivity quickly improve.
Texting
We all like to text. Most of the time, we can be found reading, sending, or otherwise engaged in text messaging. While this is certainly a convenient way to communicate, it's also a great way to distract yourself. If you really need to get something done, you may have to put your phone on silent and put it out of sight.
Social Media
The distraction of all distractions: social media. Between Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, and the many others, we have plenty of distractions available. The biggest problem is that we're all addicted to social media. You're going to have to put your phone away and don't open any extra browsers on your computer. It might help to uninstall the apps since that makes it even easier to stay connected. Kicking this habit may be the single best thing you can do for your productivity, and maybe for your happiness too.
We all need to be productive. Between work, home, and family, productivity is necessary! But sometimes we get in our own way of getting things done. Nix these bad habits as soon as you can, and you may be more productive and more content than ever before.
