3 Ways to Feel Happier Every Day

By Genevieve Cunningham

Being happy is life's biggest and most elusive goal. We all want to be happy. We want to be content. We want to feel successful and productive. Sometimes, it seems like we hit this goal perfectly, and we feel so good about our lives. But other times, we really miss the mark. We feel down and fatigued and generally negative. So how can we improve our perspective and feel happier every day? While we'll never be able to stop bad situations or bad moods from arising, we can definitely take actions that promote happiness. If you're ready to feel better about your daily life, take a look at these three tips.

Don't Think About What's Next

The only way to feel real and pure happiness is to stop worrying. And the only real way to stop worrying is to live right now in this present moment. Wherever you are, focus on being there. Focus on whatever is happening right now. Don't think about what you have to do tomorrow or what impending bills are due. This takes  a lot of time and a lot of practice, but those who master the art of present living claim it's the happiest way to live a life.

Eat and Drink Well

It's so important to get the right nutrients in your body. Junk food makes us feel bad. Too much sugar and soda and caffeine make us feel bad. But good food -- food that is full of vitamins and minerals -- makes us feel strong and happy. Fill your refrigerator and your diet with vegetables and fruit and protein. Make sure your body is getting plenty of water. The outside is a reflection of the inside. If you want to be happy and positive, your diet should be as healthy as possible.

Get Rest and Sleep

Rest and sleep aren't necessarily the same. We all have to get good sleep. That's when our bodies recuperate and regenerate. But we also need good rest. This means taking time to yourself and relaxing when you're feeling fatigued. It means taking the day off work when you're sick. It means sleeping in when you're exhausted. If you want to feel healthy and happy, getting both adequate sleep and rest are essential.

Everyone wants to be happy. We don't like feeling sad or mad or generally bad about life. Luckily, we don't have to let a bad attitude and negative perspective take over. Use these tips to improve your mood a little every day, and you may be loving your life more than ever in no time at all.
