Seeking Relief From Back Pain

By Stephen R. Farris

Back pain can be frustrating. Not only does it leave us feeling down, it makes life so that we can't do certain things and may even have to take time off from work and activities to seek rest and treatment for it.

The pain could be caused by strained ligaments, muscles or ruptured discs and is often due to poor lifting techniques, sports-related injury or something as simple as stepping off the street curb the wrong way. Did you know that at least half of the American population develops back pain over the course of the year? It can affect anyone, regardless of age.

People disabled by back pain all across the globe has increased to well over 50 percent in the past nearly 30 years. That's incredible, yet sad to think about too. Millions of dollars are spent each year by the populations for back pain, not to mention the money lost in wages due to time missed from work. If you are experiencing pain in your back, joints and muscles as well, it may be time to consider visiting with your local chiropractor.

Chiropractic Treatment Supported by Research

Chiropractic care, combined with medical care greatly reduces lower back pain and lower disability rates after treatments. In other words, chiropractic treatment can be the leading factor in getting you back on the job and your favorite activities in no time, plus the fact that it's a non-drug solution. No opioids to get better is a win-win no matter how you look at it.

Speaking of Opioids

The first reaction when we experience any type of back pain, or any pain -- joints, muscles, etc. -- is to reach for the bottle of pain reliever. However, this can oftentimes lead to taking way more than we should, depending on how much pain we might feel, which can produce other problems too. When the pain first hits, that's the time to go visit your local chiropractor so that they can examine the area where you're experiencing pain and offer treatment options.

Tipping the Pain in a Positive Direction

Back pain is definitely something we'd rather not ever have to deal with. But it happens from time to time. There are ways to prevent back pain, such as eating healthier, exercising more and avoiding inactivity. Your local chiropractor can give you suggestions and literature to help you get started. Other ideas would be to do some stretching before work and activities. Make sure your feet are comfortable and always do your best to maintain good posture.
