You Deserve Applause and an Adjustment

By Donna Stark

Here's to that early morning wake-up call from a very tired child, to the bits of food that have been thrown on the floor (did any of their lunch get in their mouths?), to that last 30 minutes in the evening before it's officially bedtime. Here's to all the moments, actually, when you wouldn't think twice about booking that one-way ticket out of town just for the sake of finding some peace (and boy, there are plenty of them, aren't there?). But don't book that ticket just yet! You can find your peace and quiet right here, outside in your local community. Take a look at the following suggestions.

Take a Walk

Taking a walk outdoors has been shown to have amazing benefits to both your emotional and mental health, but it's important to walk where you can actually relax a bit, so be sure to pick a route that you find pleasing and calming. Choose walkways surrounded by flowers and trees or head down your favorite streets. Finding enjoyment with your walks is vital if you are looking for some productive "alone time."

Dine Outdoors

If you are like most people, you love a good meal and you also love being outside, so why don't you combine the two? Head outdoors and enjoy the fresh summer breeze with your lunch while the little ones are down for their nap. Eating outdoors encourages us to slow down, savor more, and find gratitude with the little things in life. It's also a great way to soak up some Vitamin D!

Practice Yoga

Spending time in nature helps to increase feelings of happiness and connectedness, and coincidentally, so does yoga! So give yourself a double dose of it all. Grab your mat and head outdoors for your next yoga session. It's the perfect way to care for your body both mentally and physically ... and how funny would it be to stand in a tree pose while standing next to a tree?

You certainly don't need a one-way ticket to find peace but you may want to consider a trip to a neighboring town. Whether you go alone or you grab some friends to hang out with, exploring new sights or hiking different trails will surely have a positive effect on how you feel.

You Deserve Applause

Your local chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic applaud you for all the hard work you do for your family every single day and they want you to know that if you ever need some extra support to reduce your stress, you can always come in to see them for an adjustment ... and some peace and quiet.
