Get Ready for Your Swimsuit With These Tips
By Genevieve Cunningham
Every day the air is getting a little warmer. The sun is shining a little brighter and the grass is getting greener. We're well into spring which means that, at least in the south, summer isn't far behind at all. This is the time of year when we break out shorts and tank tops. We start seeing flip-flops and pedicured toes. And it won't be long at all until swimsuits begin to make their appearance everywhere we look. Are you ready? If you'd like to get your body (and mind) prepared for swimsuit season ahead, take a look at these tips to begin now.
Increase Your Cardio
Cardio is for burning calories. If you want to lose a little weight before summer, you'll definitely need to burn more calories. Pick up jogging, hop on the elliptical machine, or join an aerobics class. But make sure that you work hard and break a sweat! Increasing your cardio movement can make you drop weight -- and fat! -- faster to get you ready for your favorite suit.
Along with dropping weight, you'll also need to tone up. This can only be done by sculpting away fat and building strong muscle. Lifting weights can help with both. When combined with cardio, lifting weights can help speed up the fat burning process. And when we lift, we challenge the muscles, which makes them grow. Though you can't spot reduce, it might make you feel better to focus on your trouble spots. Lift all over, but give a little extra attention to the areas that make you cringe.
Let's be real for a second: Half the battle in rocking a swimsuit is in the mind. If this is you, start some positive affirmations now! Look yourself in the mirror every day and tell yourself that you look awesome. Tell yourself that this swimsuit looks incredible. Tell yourself that you are more than your body. Affirmations take time to work, so create them now, practice for months, and you may be confident enough to strut your stuff when summer finally arrives.
Summer is so much fun. Beach days, pool parties, backyard barbecues. Get yourself ready! Use these tips to help earn the body you want, and then relax and enjoy the warm months and hours of fellowship that are just on the horizon.
