3 Foods to Avoid as Much as Possible

By Genevieve Cunningham

Do you eat a healthy diet? Most people know that healthy eating is important. They know that they should do it regularly, but actually buying the healthy food and making healthy recipes on a daily basis is another story. It's hard! Luckily, you don't have to have a perfect diet to be healthy. If you mess up a little along the way, that's OK! But for the best chance at good health, there are definitely some foods that you should avoid as much as possible. If you need an easy way to get moving toward healthy eating, take a look at these three foods to keep out of your diet.

Energy Drinks

Energy drinks are so bad for the body. They're full of sugar -- which can lead to weight gain, high blood sugar, acne, and a crash later in the day. It's also full of caffeine -- which is bad for the heart and can lead to addiction. The more popular these drinks are becoming, the more injuries and fatalities we're seeing linked to their consumption. The best course of action is to stay away! If you want your diet (and health!) to improve, energy drinks should be far away from your menu.

Packaged Sweets

Packaged sweets are definitely delicious. They're easy and sweet. As kids, we learn to love the Twinkies and packaged cupcakes and Ding Dongs. But if we're being honest with ourselves, these snacks are among the worst for our health. The solution? Just don't buy them. If you don't have them in your home and in your cabinet, you won't be tempted to reach for them when you're feeling a little bit hungry.

Certain Sweeteners

Some sweeteners are OK. Some do their job well -- they sweeten your food or drink without consequence. But some sweeteners are horrible! If your only choice is aspartame, don't do it. Aspartame is a toxin to the body. It's been proven time and again to be detrimental, and yet it can still be found in certain drinks. If you're serious about good health, do what you can to avoid this additive.

You don't have to eat a perfect diet. No one does! But there are definitely things that you can do to improve your chances of good health. Try to avoid these foods and you'll be one step closer to a healthier diet and better overall health in your life.
