Signs Your Fitness Routine Is Working

There is so much excitement and promise to be had when you embark on a new health and fitness routine. And even though it can be extremely difficult in the beginning, the images you have of what you hope the results will be are usually enough to keep you going, aren't they? Well, for most people, they are. But for others, those images simply aren't enough. They want to see major results right away and if they don't see them, they become frustrated and end up quitting before they really have a chance to improve. On some level, that is understandable because, after all, no one likes the feeling that comes from setting a goal and not being able to meet it.

Change Is Happening

If your desired results are slow to occur, does that mean your lifestyle changes aren't working? Should you give up? Heck no! There are plenty of signs you may be overlooking that are showing you positive things are happening and that you just need to give it more time. Take a look at a few of them here.

  • You no longer crave junk food - The body will often crave foods that it doesn't need, but by creating new healthy eating habits, you will start to create new connections in your brain. Over time, these connections will replace the ones you previously had with your poor food choices.
  • You no longer hate exercise - The key here is to stick to your new habit so that the action of doing so becomes routine. It also helps to take notice of how you feel after a good workout because once you realize that you generally feel better, exercise will be easier to look forward to.
  • You're sleeping better - The food we eat and the level of physical activity we engage in during the day definitely affects how we sleep at night. So if you find that you are sleeping better, have more energy throughout the day, and are more productive, you may be on the right track!
  • Your clothes are fitting you once again - Don't base your journey on that silly number you see on the scale alone ... base it on how well your clothes are fitting you again. Muscle weighs more than fat, so the number on the scale can be deceiving, but the good news is that it takes up less space in the body, so you will look and feel slimmer!

It's the Little Things

It's perfectly OK to commit to some really big goals, but don't forget to notice the little signs of improvement along the way. Sometimes, they are exactly what you need to keep your motivation going and your focus sharp so that you can stay on the path to improved health and fitness!
