Energizing Yourself Naturally
By Donna Stark
Seriously, are you are heading to the coffee machine again? How many times has it been so far today? If you are struggling to maintain enough energy to get you through the day and see no light at the end of the tunnel, coffee isn't going to do the trick. Sure, that first cup may get your body moving in the morning but by the time afternoon rolls around, you may need something else. There are many different things you can choose from, but fortunately, you get to pick the one that works best! Take a look at a few of our top energizing tips below.
Drink Water
We are told and reminded to drink the recommended amount of water every week, but how many of us actually follow that advice? Do you? Most people are navigating their days chronically dehydrated and in case you didn't know, dehydration can have a significant effect on energy levels. Try to drink at least eight glasses of water a day. If you find that difficult, start carrying a water bottle and infusing your water with fruit. That may help motivate you to drink more.
Head Outdoors
Chances are, if you are fighting fatigue during the day you are probably struggling with productivity and creativity as well. One surefire way to combat that is to head outdoors and take a walk. Walking for just 15 minutes is enough to energize your body and mind, but that's not all! The restorative qualities that Mother Nature provides can help reduce stress and anxiety as well.
Detox From Technology
Your laptop, tablet, and phone love to steal your attention but that's not all they like to take away. They also like to rob you of your sleep! The blue light that is emitted from them can disrupt your body's melatonin production and disrupt your natural circadian rhythm. It's best to turn them off at least an hour before bed and to limit their use in the evening.
Choose Energizing Snacks
Fueling your body with healthy snacks may help you get through those sluggish afternoons much better than coffee or energy drinks. Here are some of the best to choose from.
- Apple or banana with nut butter
- Edamame
- Grapefruit
- Homemade kale chips
- Greek yogurt topped with berries
- Green tea
Energizing Yourself
If you find you want more energy during the day, you may need to step back and take a look at your daily lifestyle habits because that is often where change needs to be made. But don't worry! Change can be good and with the tips above, you may be able to find the energy that has been missing in your life.
