Exercises to Do From Home
By Lexi Herrin
There are several different ways and places to work out when you exercise and several factors that can affect it. Gym cost, time in your schedule, or even convenience can affect several decisions in our everyday lives and exercise is no different. If you are one of those people who may be "on the fence" about joining a gym for whatever reason, don't worry, in-home workouts can be just as effective, and working out in your home can cost significantly less money than joining a gym. Working out in the comfort of your own home can also offer convenience that you may not get in public facilities.
Cardio Workouts
There are several different ways to exercise within your own home. Cardio is important to work into your workout routine. Some different types of cardio, or aerobic, workouts include walking, biking, running, aerobic workout videos, dancing, jump roping, etc. Cardio exercises are any workouts that really get your heart rate up. Cardio exercises can help increase blood flow and circulation throughout your body.
Resistance and Flexibility
Resistance workouts are strengthening workouts. For example, lifting weights, squats, push-ups, crunches, and bands, can all be used for strength training. Flexibility workouts can include several different stretches. Resistance and flexibility workouts can help strengthen your muscles and release tension within your body.
Warm-Ups and Cooldowns
Some of the most important parts of any workout include the warm-up and cooldown. They are important because without them you could sprain, strain, pull muscles, etc. You could receive several different types of injuries during your cardio or resistance portions of your workout without them. Some warm-ups include a light walk, light jog, or even a light bike ride on a stationary bike. Cooldowns can be similar to a warm-up and can include similar exercises, as well as some stretches to release tension in your body.
Working out from home can offer convenience that you may not have in public facilities. For example, your own home won't have operating hours. You can work out on your own time and it can be just as effective. Exercise has many benefits and improving overall health is just one of them.
