Fall Sunshine Is Too Good to Miss
By Donna Stark
With the weather creeping to colder temperatures and the pumpkin decorations being pulled out of sheds, you know it's time to start putting your summer swimsuits and games away. However, just because you are getting ready for fall does not mean you should be getting less sunlight. Sunlight is important to the body's immunity, which is especially important heading into the upcoming cold and flu season. To learn more about how you can soak up all the sun's rays and get your daily dose of Vitamin D during the autumn season, take a look at the suggestions below!
Take A Walk
There is no better way to start your day than with a walk! The recommended amount of sunlight you receive is about 30 minutes three times a week. An outdoor walk around the block will help get your body moving and give you the opportunity to absorb the sunlight, and enjoy the beautiful season of fall. Always be sure to protect your skin with SPF before heading out, even when you think you may not need it.
Nature Crafts
While on your walk outside, take notice of and save all those beautiful leaves and nuts that have fallen to the ground. There are so many things you can do with the materials that nature provides when it comes to fall crafts. Use fallen acorns to make a wreath and grab the vibrant red and orange leaves to make beautiful garlands. Set up shop outside and be creative!
Picking Perfect Pumpkins
Picking that perfect pumpkin is a great way to celebrate the start of fall! Whether you are making pumpkin pie or carving pumpkins with your family, heading over to your local pumpkin patch is a good way to get outdoors and create memories. This is one way to turn a relaxing afternoon into one that is fun for both you and your family.
Apple Picking Season
Is it really fall if you didn't go apple picking at your local orchard? Heading over to your nearest apple orchard can accomplish so much. You will be able to get your recommended amount of sunlight, unplug from your work life, and give your mind the relaxation it needs. In addition, you can count this as exercise because lifting those baskets of apples is hard work!
Fall Sunshine Is Too Good to Miss
There are so many ways to maintain a good amount of sunlight throughout this chilly season. Whether it be with family, friends, or yourself, taking a few moments to spend outside will make a huge difference in your physical and mental health. So go ahead and be sure to enjoy your time in the sun even if this time doesn't include your favorite pool toy.
