3 Easy Ways to Eat Better Today
By Genevieve Cunningham
Eating a healthy diet is something we all know is important. It can't be denied. If we eat well, we know that we're more likely to look and feel better every day. We know we're more likely to lose weight. We know we lower our risk of various diseases. Unfortunately, even though we have all of this information readily available, so many of us still choose to eat a diet full of junk. Why? Because it's hard to change! For many, the mistake is looking too far ahead. It's hard to imagine eating well for a whole month -- but what about today? What if all we had to do was think about making healthy choices one day at a time? Luckily, this approach can absolutely work! If you're ready to get your diet under control one day at a time, take a look at these three tips for eating better today.
Grab Your Water Bottle
Water is always your best choice. Of course we're going to drink other things as well -- coffee and tea and etc. -- but water should be the most prominent drink in your day. But for most people, it's not. If you want an immediate and easy way to improve your diet today, fill up your water bottle and take it with you everywhere. Sip throughout the day and say no to juice and soda. This will hydrate your body like never before and leave less room for poor choices in food and drink.
Don't Eat Dessert
Yes, dessert tastes delicious, but is it necessary? Nope. Desserts are full of sugar and calories, two things that we already get plenty of! But it's not just desserts. You should also say no to sugary snacks and meals. Will it be easy? Probably not, but it's a quick way to improve your diet and the way that you feel on a regular basis.
Don't Eat at Night
Cutting yourself off from food at night is a good idea. Your body needs time to rest, time to digest, and time to recuperate. Once dinner is over, end your food consumption. If you really need something later in the evening, try some herbal tea or just plain old water. You might be surprised at how quickly your body gets used to this habit and how quickly it makes a difference in your weight and the way that you feel. We're not meant to eat 24 hours per day, so don't do it!
Eating better is not rocket science. It's just practice and patience and persistence. It's knowing a few tricks to get you moving in the right direction. Use these tips to better manage your diet on a daily basis, and you'll be feeling better than ever in no time at all.
