Dr. Gayla Thombleson is a dedicated licensed chiropractor who joined The Joint Chiropractic in October 2025 at Abilene,Texas. For Dr. Gayla, chiropractic care is more than just a career—it is a lifelong calling.

“I have known I was called to be a doctor since I was very little,” she says. “By high school, I knew chiropractic was the path for me. It helped me recover from my own injuries, and since then, I have been able to watch chiropractic care help so many people time and time again”

Dr. Gayla brings nearly a decade of clinical experience to the Abilene community. Before moving to Texas, she practiced in:

  • Bloomington, Indiana
  • Tell City, Indiana
  • Hawesville, Kentucky
  • Wichita Falls, Texas

She earned her Bachelor of Science from Vincennes University before attending New York Chiropractic College (now known as the Northeast College of Health Sciences), where she graduated in 2016. What Dr. Gayla loves most about her field is the ability to educate patients on how to better their lifestyles so they can get back to doing what they are passionate about. Having grown up in a rural farming community where she raised horses and livestock, she understands the physical demands of an active life. Her belief in the power of chiropractic was further solidified by seeing how it provided the only relief for her mother’s chronic migraines.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Gayla stays busy with her fiancé, David Lara, and their young daughter—a "sweet and spicy" toddler who keeps them on their toes. Whether they are fishing, hunting, or simply enjoying the outdoors together, family is at the center of everything she does. Their household is completed by Buddy, a large and lovable rescue dog.

An avid reader and a fan of the Harry Potter series and Pride and Prejudice, Dr. Gayla also carries the spirit of service with her. One of her most impactful memories is a mission trip to Panama, where she hiked through the jungle to help build a church and support homebound residents.

Today, she is proud to serve the growing Abilene community, helping neighbors discover alternative treatments that lead to healthier, happier lives.
