3 Signs You Should Really Be Drinking More Water
By Genevieve Cunningham
We can't live a healthy life without water. In fact we can't live at all without water. And yet so many of us skip the water and opt for the flavored drinks instead. It's as though we don't really understand the true importance of hydrating properly. But here's the thing: Dehydration is sneaky. It can creep up on us, and many times, we don't even notice a problem before significant damage has been done. If you don't drink enough water, take a look at these signs that you should really increase your H2O consumption for better health overall.
Your Skin is Dry
Your skin isn't really supposed to be particularly dry. It's not supposed to be ashy or flaky. Sure, the weather plays a big part, but so does your water consumption. If your skin is dry -- or your lips are dry -- you probably need to moisturize from the outside and hydrate from the inside. Take this as an early warning sign that your body needs more water.
You're Having Headaches
Headaches can come about for so many different reasons. They come with sickness and certain kinds of injury. But they can also come because of dehydration. If you suddenly have headaches, it's entirely possible that you just need more water. Try adding a few glasses to your daily intake and see if your headaches improve. If they don't, see your doctor for advice.
Your Digestion is Slow
Digestion is important for so many reasons. We can't live without some kind of digestion happening. It helps clear toxins out of the body, can help with weight loss, or it can cause problems when it's not working correctly. When the body is dehydrated, it can cause slower digestion. Your body can't function normally, and you may experience stomach aches or muscle cramps in the abdomen. If your digestion has taken a turn for the worse, drink more water for a little relief.
Water is not an option. We have to include it in our diets. It's necessary for good health and happiness. It's necessary for life. The vast majority of people don't get enough, but it's time to turn that bad habit around. Make sure that your body is staying properly hydrated and you'll likely experience better health as a result.
