How to Avoid the Flu This Season With Chiropractic Care
Ok, guys. It's time to get serious here. Flu season is here and, as I'm sure we're all aware, it's a pretty nasty one this time around. It seems as if no matter where I go, someone is either just getting over a bout of the flu, or just on the verge of coming down with it. I legitimately feel as though I need to invest in a giant bubble until this season passes. Luckily, I have yet to come down with it myself (knock on wood), and I would like to keep it that way. So, with the art of prevention in mind, here are a few ways to increase your odds of continuing to be flu-free:
#1: Practice good hygeine.
I know that this one should be a given, but let's just play along. While we have a pretty above-par immune system built into our bodies, sometimes it's just not enough. Immune systems can be weakened by things like poor nutrition, a lack of exercise, and an abundance of germs floating around. Therefore, it's imperative that we maintain a certain level of cleanliness in order to help our systems out. Basic things like hand washing (especially after coming into contact with other people) and counter/sink wipe downs can be incredibly worthwhile.
#2: Rock a mask.
If for some reason your immune system is compromised, you think that you may be sick, or you just want to take extra precautions, there is really no shame in wearing a medical mask. In fact, wearing one can dramatically reduce the amount of airborne germs (both coming and going) that otherwise are one of the main culprits behind people contracting the flu virus. Don't be afraid to rock one- remember, healthy is stylish!
#3: Keep up on chiropractic care.
One study, conducted over the course of three years, concluded that people who had been under chiropractic care for five years or more had a 200% greater immune competence than those who were not under any sort of chiropractic care. It is thought that the immune system is affected by the nervous system, whose functions can be greatly improved with regular chiropractic adjustments. Not sure where to get started?
