Foundation for Chiropractic Progress Highlights Pro Athletes' Commitment to Care
The potential for individuals in a position of fame or high recognition to influence behaviors and outcomes in a given population is immense. When it comes to health and wellness, these individuals are often professional athletes. No matter what sport a professional athlete is involved in, the ability for professional athletes to lead by example and show us that certain behaviors or actions can help us in ways that would not be thought of otherwise.
Recently, the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress has identified professional athletes as playing a crucial role in the increased affinity for chiropractic care as an effective treatment method for musculoskeletal problems. Mainly, the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress is claiming that the growing number of professional athletes that are seeking chiropractic care to help prevent injury and improve performance outcomes, has influenced so many individuals in the pursuit of chiropractic care.
In sports, there is an extremely common problem of injuries that are due the various types of repetitive motions in sports. In golf, the repetitive motion involved in the swing can lead to deterioration of cartilage in various joints in the hips and back as well as stress problems in the knees. As a result, we are seeing many golfers pursuing chiropractic care to prevent injury and increase the ability to recover from long outings on the course.
Consequently, we have seen professional golfers like Jordan Spieth speak out in an effort to communicate the benefits of chiropractic care, thanking his chiropractor in a speech after winning his first Masters tournament.
As time passes on, we see many more professional sports teams enlisting the services of a professional chiropractor to travel with the team and perform adjustments both on the road and at home.
Chiropractic care is becoming a discipline of alternative medicine that is viewed more positively in the community as so many individuals throughout the population are following the example of professional athletes. As more and more atheletes - from baseball players to golfers - add chiropractic care to their wellness plans, it is believed the general public and fans especially will take notice.
The Foundation for Chiropractic Progress is not the only organization to point out this reality, as the trend is catching on nationwide. Over time, more athletes will seek chiropractic services and in turn, this type of care will be administered to all kinds of patients who are following in the footsteps of their favorite athletes. Since chiropractic is also becoming more accessible for the generally masses, it is assumed that the demand for care will only go up.
