Facing the Storm of Pain with Chiropractic Care
By Donna Stark
We’ve had some pretty serious storms roll through my community just recently and it was interesting to see how each of my family members reacted to them. I have one daughter that avoids the windows and jumps from fear every time the thunder crashes, and another who thinks it’s the perfect time to play outdoors. Storms and the reactions we have to them can be pretty symbolic of the difficult times that we go through, so it makes me wonder how you react when the storms of life come crashing down. How do you face the debilitating pain each and every day? Do you cower under the sheets and let fear and anxiety rule your days? Do you simply sit and wait it out, hoping the pain will just miraculously end? Or, are you like my youngest daughter, hungry to strap on your rain boots, grab your umbrella, and head outdoors to face that storm head-on?
Storm of Pain
The actual cause of pain can often be difficult to diagnose, but it usually falls under two categories: acute and chronic. Acute pain comes on quickly and usually lasts no longer than six weeks. This is the kind of pain that is often associated with an obvious injury such as tearing a muscle, dislocating a shoulder, or breaking a bone. Chronic pain, on the other hand, may occur without an obvious injury, lasts longer than three months, and develops slowly over time. With chronic pain, you may be in need of a more thorough assessment to determine its source and you can get that by seeing your local chiropractor at The Joint Chiropractic.
Chiropractic Care
Due to the number of possible causes of pain, and the complexity of the joints, muscles, and nerves in your body, it is important to see your local chiropractor as soon as you can to determine the source of your discomfort. You can expect to receive a thorough and comprehensive examination during your visit and a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs.
The adjustments that your chiropractor provides are safe, effective, and non-invasive. That’s important because the likelihood of additional health risks, side effects, and addiction can then be avoided. Basically, your chiropractor acts as your body’s assistant. By carefully positioning the spine in its proper alignment, joint restrictions and nerve interference can be removed in as gentle a way as possible, pain can be reduced, and your body can start the process of healing itself.
