Tips for Fighting the Flu Before It Happens
By Genevieve Cunningham
It's that time of year. It's flu season. No one looks forward to this time of year. We may look forward to the holidays, the cooler weather, and the spirit of the season, but no one wants to catch the flu. Unfortunately we don't always have control over whether or not we are exposed to various illnesses. The best that we can do for ourselves is to get prepared. If you would like to avoid the flu this season and improve your health as much as possible, take a look at these tips that you can do right away.
You can't actually eliminate all germs from your life, but you can at least give them a run for their money. Make sure that you are constantly washing your hands throughout flu season. Wipe down surfaces that get touched often such as doorknobs, countertops, bag handles, and cabinet doors. If you constantly eliminate any germs that are introduced into your life, you have a much better chance of keeping your body well and avoiding the flu in the first place.
Boost the Immune System
This is a great time of year to boost the immune system. The stronger the immune system, the more capable it will be at fighting off any germs that you do come in contact with. Make sure that you are eating or taking plenty of Vitamin C. Make sure that your diet is mostly healthy and avoid as much junk food as possible. Try to get in a little exercise and make sure to get plenty of rest. When you do all of these together, it will help keep your immune system strong and capable of fighting off colds and flu.
Follow the Doctor’s Orders
Doctors really do know best. If you're trying to stay healthy, you should listen to the experts. Doctors are going to give you advice such as avoid sick people, stay out of crowds, cover your mouth and nose, wash your hands, and get your flu shot. If you have a doctor that you trust, follow their advice. Doing so may keep you healthy and strong all through the flu season and beyond.
You can't completely control whether or not you catch the flu, but you can definitely get your body prepared for what's ahead. Use these tips to strengthen your health and avoid as many germs as possible. The more prepared you are, the healthier your body will be, and the higher chance you have of avoiding the nasty colds and debilitating flu this year.
