5 Healthy Ways to Use Apples This Fall Season

By Brandi Swieter

Apples make a common fall treat. From bobbing for apples at fall events to eating caramel apples on a stick, and even enjoying an apple pie, people tend to think of apples when they think of fall. It can get boring to consume them the same way each time, so knowing some healthy apple recipes is a great way to gain the nutrition while enjoying the treat in a unique way.

Apple Slices With Almond Butter

Many people prefer not to bite into a whole apple. The hard outer surface can be tough on the teeth. Instead, apple eaters can slice the fruit into thinner pieces that are easier to consume. It’s also possible to dip them in something to give it a new taste. Peanut butter is a common choice, but an even healthier one is almond butter.

Diced Apples and Cheese

Grapes and cheese are often combined in platters. Apples can be as well, offering a unique combination that packs a lot of power. Have diced apple bites with some cheese bites for a sweet and salty snack unlike any other. Both apples and cheese can help to eliminate plaque on the teeth and remove bacteria from the mouth. It’s a healthy snack choice for anyone looking to enhance the health of their teeth or gums.

Apple Sandwiches

Bread is high in calories and is on the list of unhealthy foods to consume regularly. Use apple rounds to make a sandwich instead. Spread on some peanut or almond butter and top with granola pieces before adding the top apple round. It’s a fun and tasty treat that adults and kids will like.

Baked Apples

Apples can taste great hot as long as they’re baked well. Baked apples come out soft and sweet. Sprinkle some cinnamon on top for a healthy option, or add a scoop of vanilla frozen yogurt for another choice.

Banana Apple Smoothie

Apples aren’t typically found in smoothies alone, but the fruit can be used in combination with other fruit selections for a unique treat. A banana apple smoothie combined with peanut butter is a healthy selection packed with protein and vitamins.

Eat apples more often and in more ways to get the benefits. The fruit is chock-full of vitamins and nutrients. Any way you eat it is going to be advantageous for the body and mind.
