Your Autumn Diet and Exercise Routine

By Brandi Goodman

The autumn season sees many changes. Some of those changes are for the worse for many people. You may find yourself eating more unhealthy foods as the fall treats line store shelves. Perhaps you're sitting more often as you try to enjoy your fall shows. You need to consider an autumn diet and exercise routine to maintain your well-being.

A TV-Watching Workout

You shouldn't remain sedentary while you watch your fall shows. It may feel relaxing to get to sit and veg out in front of the television for a while, but you really need this time to move. Try a workout that involves TV watching. You can simply step in place while you view your favorite program or drag in some exercise equipment to really work up a sweat while you watch.

Stock Up on Fall Fruits and Vegetables

Watermelon is the typical choice for the summer months. Once fall hits, pumpkin is the food you'll be seeing advertised most. Make use of the fruits and vegetables that are in season and be sure to stock up. You'll get tons of nutrition from them. Pumpkin, squash, apples, pears, cauliflower, and cranberries are some of the top choices.

Enjoy Fall Walks

Just because the weather gets colder in the fall doesn't mean you can't still enjoy time outside. Enjoy fall walks regularly around your neighborhood or through the park. You'll get to watch the beauty of nature around you as you watch the colors change and the leaves drop. The season marks the end of a chapter, and getting to experience that firsthand can help you put things into perspective. It's great for your mental health.

Make Homemade Fall Treats

Too many fall treats and sweets line the store shelves. These foods may look enticing, but they're full of sugar and high in calories. You should try your hand at homemade items that can curb your sweet tooth and satisfy your need without as much of the sugar.

Do more this fall to stay in shape and remain healthy. Find a diet and exercise plan that works well for you, including finding ways to stay fit even while you binge watch your favorite shows. You can still enjoy outdoor time as well. Stick with in-season vegetables and fruits to get the best nutritional value with your meals. All of this and more can help with your well-being this autumn.
