3 Basic Principles to Follow for Better Health
By Genevieve Cunningham
Better health is achievable. Sometimes, it seems like an impossible goal. We don't know what to do or we have an illness we can't seem to shake. And this makes the quest for better health feel almost worthless. What's the point, right? But in times like these, the best bet is to go back to the basics. The basics are the building blocks for better health, and if you follow them regularly, better health can truly be yours. If you're interested in getting your health on the right track, take a look at these three basic principles to follow today.
Eat Less Food
We all eat too much. We snack too often and on all the wrong foods. We fill our plates with serving sizes that are way too large. If you want to feel better and improve health, eat less food. Fill your diet with plenty of healthy foods -- vegetables and fruit and protein -- and schedule your meals and snacks. At first, you'll think you're starving. But it won't take long for your body and mind to adjust and for you to realize that you were probably eating way too much all along.
Create More Movement
Movement is essential to healthy living. But are you moving regularly? Or do you come home to Netflix and chill every night? One good way to create movement is to participate in a regular exercise program. This schedules your movement and ensures that your body is worked. But it's also good to simply incorporate movement into your everyday life. Walk more. Stretch. Get up and do something -- anything! -- that is active! The more you move, the more calories you'll burn, the stronger your body will be, and the better you'll feel overall.
Drink More Water
Water is our lifeblood. We can't live without it, though most of us try. We don't intentionally go without water, but we spend all of our time drinking other things -- soda, milk, juice, tea, coffee. If you can't remember the last time you drank a full glass of water, you're not drinking enough! The more water you drink, the more benefits you'll have. You may start to notice things such as clear skin, efficient digestion, and even weight loss. Make water your main drink, and you'll be putting your health first in a really easy way.
If you're trying to improve your health, keep it simple. Build a solid foundation, and then go from there. If you're serious, use these simple principles to get moving in the right direction, and enjoy the better health that quickly follows.
