Chiropractic is a Natural Resource for Chronic Low Back Pain
Most of us keep looking when our pain issues become critical. In the case of chronic low back pain that can be a tough call. The pain can be challenging and the life disrupting issues can be devastating. Drawing from what I have seen with friends and relatives and reading research reports, chiropractors may be positioned to deliver some of the best results.
Chiropractors Score in Satisfaction
According to a report in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, “Patients with chronic low-back pain treated by chiropractors showed greater improvement and satisfaction at one month than patients treated by family doctors. Satisfaction scores were higher for chiropractic patients. A higher proportion of chiropractic patients, 56 percent versus 13 percent, reported their low-back pain was better or much better. Almost one-third of the medical patients reported their low-back pain was worse or much worse.”
Chronic low back pain is the one everybody remembers
The friends and relatives that I have watched cope with this were all strong active people who did not give in easily. But chronic low back pain raised the bar and brought them around, seeking real answers much quicker.
One fellow found himself lying flat on the car floor as his wife drove him to the chiropractors. He could no longer sit without pain. Another fellow simply could not carry anything as he moved slowly with pain from place to place.
Both of them found answers at their chiropractors that helped back the pain way down and restore normalcy to their lives. You should have seen the grins they were wearing when they talked about leaving the chronic back pain behind! They also described in detail all of their latest fishing, boating and other hobbies that were now back on board.
Seeing the Chiropractor for Solutions
The chiropractor starts with a spinal adjustment to evaluate the health of the spine, and then retraces medical history and reviews normal schedules and current levels of pain. Then a succession of visits follow to work on the problem. Diets for weight loss, new relaxation therapy, and shorter work hours can come up for discussion. Along the way patients may also learn that the more stressed they became over the situation, the worse it tends to be. The cases that I saw took several months to resolve, but the results and satisfaction levels were first rate.
If you or someone in your family is running into similar challenges make an appointment with your chiropractor to get some good answers now.
