What Happens When You Love the Heels But Hate the Pain?
We have all been there. The shoes are dynamite, but the pain is something else. You may have bought them on a whim, and after the first party you still love them, but you are not sure they love you!
EasyHealthOptions recently talked about the muscle imbalances that heels can create when you wear them too often.
Researchers say wearing heels of four inches or more causes the muscles of the lower foot to become unbalanced, leading to ankle injuries if you wear them a lot. One European study said these heels can alter pelvic positions and lead to long term injuries. Another study said the heels can contribute to osteoarthritis of the knee.
Shoe Shopping Tips
Harvard specialists tell us to have both feet measured each time we buy shoes, and to buy shoes to fit the larger foot. Don’t buy tapered or pointed toe shoes and alternate heel heights, avoiding wearing high heels all of the time. Walk in the store to test them and wiggle your toes to check for space.
Many of us field the shoe issue, wearing low heeled comfortable walking shoes most of the time, and then switching to high heels for special meetings and parties.
