Staying Healthy During the Fall Season
By Donna Stark
Looking forward to the fall season is something that many people do because there is so much fun to be had, but did you know that your favorite fall activities are also good for your health? That's right! Not only do you get to enjoy the cooler temperatures, you also get to improve your overall well-being! So why don't you grab a spiced latte and read the following list over? It may inspire you to grab your sweater and head outdoors!
Raking Leaves
Raking leaves and cleaning up the yard is a chore that nobody really looks forward to, but if you knew how good it was for your overall health and wellness, you might start to look at it in a different light. Raking leaves will give your muscles a great workout and can help you burn all those extra calories you have been consuming with those seasonal treats, so consider it a new exercise and give it your all. You can even add some ankle weights if you want more of a challenge!
Corn Mazes
Spending an hour or two trying to find your way out of a corn maze may sound a bit overwhelming for some people, but if you think about it, you may realize what a workout it can be. That's an hour or two of walking that you may not have been doing if you didn't head to the fields.
Orchards
There is nothing like a hand-picked apple or peach to enjoy for a snack, so skip the produce section in the grocery store and head out to your favorite orchard for some fun in the sun! And expect to get quite the workout too. From climbing up and down the ladders to walking through the trees to lifting the heavy baskets, picking your own fruit is a great way to exercise and add some extra nutrition to your diet!
Outdoor Markets
Fall is the perfect time to visit your local farmers market. Head out early in the morning, hit the market's coffee stand, and take your time picking out the freshest vegetables, fruit, and treats you can find! You know you are getting the best of the best because they are coming straight from the source. And when you are done, you can head home and experiment with healthy new recipes!
Staying Healthy During Fall
Fall is an exciting time that is filled with fun activities to participate in, but what makes it even more special is that those activities are often really good for your health too! So stay active, stay healthy, and keep the good times going!
