Time at Home Can Be Bonding and Healthy
By Tom Herrin
In recent times, just about everyone has spent more time at home than they may have ever dreamed. It is not so bad, but most people have to do a little adjusting. So many people tend to be on their own doing what they want that it may actually take some planning to make a successful transition. One positive from it is that it may represent the best opportunity many people have had to spend quality time together. As they do that, they may also be able to improve the health of everyone in the household group as well as build better relationships.
Share Some Time
Many people fail to make any adequate amount of time for one another. Schedules simply stay too packed to allow for any real down time. Once they are in a situation in which they are occupying shared space, they will have the challenge of finding something to do with that shared time and space. Some old familiar activities may be a simple answer. Games are still fun. They come in all kinds of varied levels of difficulty, and they can range from board games to computer games to charades. Puzzles are something else that can be enjoyed by all. They may include jigsaw puzzles or crossword puzzles.
Work the Muscles
Everyone needs exercise. Doing some group exercise is another good way of involving everyone in the house in a project. At the same time, they can be meeting the needs to get in better shape. If it is successful, it can be the start of a good habit that may carry over to a time in which everyone is freer and able to fully resume activities. The time will come again even if it seems that restrictions get in the way now.
Talk and Appreciate
We all need an opportunity to talk. We can do this by spending a little more quality time simply sitting in the same room. We enjoy doing this by having an evening meal together every day and spending some time there afterwards listening and discussing even the most minor of events. It may be surprising to know what others are thinking and doing and how they are going about solving problems. These are unique times. Don't let them get away without building something positive out of it. Make the most of it.
