4 Unhealthy Weight Loss Methods

There are a whole host of weight loss tactics out there that are available for you to try out. Some work better than others, and some people respond better to certain methods than other people do. Whichever method you end up going with, be sure to avoid these super unhealthy gimmicks and “tricks” that claim to help you lose weight, but really just serve to make your health even worse.

Laxatives And Diuretics

This has got to be one of the absolute most unhealthy methods people claim to use to lose weight, hands down. People who try using laxatives and diuretics for weight loss hope that by flushing out virtually all of the water in their body, their weight will go down quickly and easily, without a need to exercise regularly or eat healthier. This is so far from the truth and it so potentially dangerous that it’s surprising that it’s even still legal. Taking diuretics and laxatives in excessive amounts will often cause intense dehydration and imbalances in your electrolyte levels. The only time you should be using these is when you are experiencing constipation, and even then, probiotics and plenty of water should do the trick naturally.

Waist Cinching/Training

Remember how back in the old days, fashionable women in the upper class would squeeze their torsos into extremely uncomfortable and tight corsets with the hope that it would somehow miraculously “train” their waste into a smaller size? Yes, those were the old days, so why is it still a fad now? Unfortunately, a few celebrities have insisted that corsets have made them look skinnier and slimmer, but corsets are merely uncomfortable at best, and at worst, they can cause internal organ damage as well as damage to the ribs.

Weight Loss Supplements

Wouldn’t life be so much easier if all we had to do to shed off those pounds was take a pill once a day before our meals? If it sounds ridiculous and too good to be true, that’s because it is. No pill out there can miraculously help you lose weight without the added benefits of regular exercise and a healthy diet. What’s more concerning is that the FDA has not regulated or approved the use of weight loss supplements, so you’re better off avoiding them for good.

Cutting Out Carbs

Your brain and body actually relies on the energy you get from carbs in order to survive on a day to day basis. The energy you get from carbs will ultimately help you lose weight.
